Coal Water Mixture Technique and Its Role in the Development of Clean Energy

摘要

The current production capacity of coal water mixture (CWM) plants in China is 2.08 Mt/a. Commercial demonstration tests of utility boilers and industrial furnace using CWM have completed. It enters a phase of commercialization and application now. The paper describes in details the current status, characteristics, and orientation of application of CWM technique in China. In the period of "Tenth Jive-year plan" the structure of energy consumption will be adjusted. CWM, as one of the substitutes for oil burning, can play some part in alleviating the discrepancy between oil demand and supply in China. CWM, as cleaner fuel to replace part of raw coal burnt by existing industrial boilers in the peripheral area of big cities, or in the medium and small sized cities and towns, can make up deficiency of clean energy in the cities in China. CWM will make contributions to the concerted development of energy and environment.
