40-Gbit/s dispersion-managed soliton transmission over 3000 km of standard fiber through optimization of the dispersion map parameters

The use of dispersion management has been shown to allow the transmission of data at 40 Gbit/s over distances greater than 1000 km in standard fiber. In this regime, it becomes difficult to find the optimal parameters to allow the maximum transmission distance. Here, we introduce a simple numerical technique to find the best average dispersion and input pulse chirp. Using the optimized parameters we form a numerical model allowing transmission of data over 3000 km of dispersion-managed standard fiber.
