This paper proposes an iterative equalization and detection algorithm using trellis-based equalizer and recursive systematic convolutional (RSC) code for high density optical recording systems. The complexity of conventional detection schemes like PRML must be increased as the density is increased, but the proposed algorithm stays at the same complexity even though the density is increased. Furthermore, it does not employ modulation code.
