This paper proposes a complexity reduced decision feedback equalizer using a delayed wave canceller (DFEDWC) and an adaptive transmission control scheme to support high quality and high bit-rate non-voice data transmission services with its bit rate of more than 10 Mbits/s for time division multiple access (TDMA) based wireless communication systems under indoor and outdoor-to-indoor pedestrian propagation path conditions. To reduce the number of DFE taps thereby reducing DFE computation, the proposed system cancels the delayed paths with its delay time of more than m-symbol duration before DFE processing. To reduce burst errors thereby improving bit-error-rate (BER) performance, we also employ an adaptive transmission control scheme that transmits dummy data when the received signal level becomes low. Computer simulation confirms that the proposed system can achieve high quality and high bit-rate data transmission at low received E/sub b//N/sub O/ in frequency selective fading environments.
