Consumer devices: providing Internet capabilities for a mass audience

This paper describes several aspects of embedding Internet-enabling technology into consumer electronic devices and its advantages for mass audiences. More people are looking for affordable electronic devices that will allow convenient access to the Internet. What is required to create an effective consumer Internet access system? Available technologies, devices, and customer expectations for Internet-enabling devices are discussed.
