We have carried out, for the first time to our knowledge, careful measurement of amplification of femtosecond supercontinuum pulses by a single-pass collinear and noncollinear optical parametric process in BaB/sub 2/O/sub 4/ (BBO) crystal and stimulated Raman amplification of the same kind of seed pulses in H/sub 2/, D/sub 2/, HD, and CH/sub 4/ gases, in all cases excited with the same 150-fs duration frequency-doubled pulses from a regenerative-amplified Ti:sapphire laser.
