The Internet and beyond: how to position ourselves to face the future challenges

The foundation for this exciting revolutionary international highway is here, at least in part. Connecting thousands of information-stuffed computers around the world has created an exciting universe of information and opportunities. Challenges for the information highway, or the Internet, include a limiting bandwidth of current networks and the lack of understanding of the new medium. One can expect that in the not too far future, new interface paradigms will replace the current limited interface devices and methods. A better understanding of how humans interact with information and taking into account the human limited capacity to get and process information will improve the way information is presented. The Internet will continue to evolve, developing new capabilities and better quality of distributing and accessing information. It is already serving society in ways that were hard to predict a few years ago. It will serve mankind in ways one can barely imagine today.
