The use of rectangular and triangular basis functions with the method of moments to analyze the problem of scattering of electromagnetic waves by dielectric objects with high dielectric constant (/spl epsi//sub I/<10) leads to convergence problems due to the spurious charges associated with the basis functions. This paper proposes a solenoidal 3D basis function that can be used in the method of moments to overcome this problem.
