Comments on the evaluation of a certain pattern classification method as an intellectual information processing

摘要

The authors represent information as patterns and investigate pattern recognition as one of the intellectual information processing methods. The pattern classification method is applied to a simulated problem: the selection of a male image which would be popular with a woman. They comment on advantages and limitations of pattern classification with a linear discrimination function by using a method based on a Bayesian discrimination standard: Uesaka's method (1990).
