The authors describe the initial test results of the implementation of state estimator and security assessor software on the Scottish hydro-electric 275 kV system. A brief outline of the underlying theory of the state estimator and security assessor is given, and online test results from the state estimator, including bad data replacement, and security assessor are presented. The background associated with the combined algorithm implementation and also the problems encountered with the estimator convergence are discussed and finally the estimator results of a continuous 24-hour run undertaken at the control centre are given.
