The author relates experience at Clemson University in offering a specially structured one-semester undergraduate course on applied artificial intelligence. In addition, a longer term and more integrated involvement of AI technology in the undergraduate engineering curriculum is suggested. A number of unresolved issues regarding this integration are posed and discussed.
