PSA as Part of Safety Reviews of Nuclear Power Plants in Germany

The nuclear licensing procedure in Germany is essentially founded on deterministic assumptions. Design evaluations are based on the reuqirement that the consequences of postulated design basis accidents remain under control. Possible uncertainties contained in the analyses and implied conditions are covered by adequate safety factors mainly based on operational experience and engineering judgement.
