摘要

The transport of air pollutants, from source to receptor, is governed by meteorological phenomena. The motions of the atmosphere are complex and it is impossible to observe every significant motion. It is also not possible to completely characterize atmospheric movements using partial observations and the laws of fluid mechanics. Instead, the motions of the atmosphere are divided into one component that describes the mean proerties of the flow-the wind speed and wind direction (for the longer length and time scales)-and a second part that describes the turbulent motions.
