The present work discusses some improvements that havernbeen introduced in a dynamic model, which was developed forrnsimulating the two-phase flow transient phenomena associatedrnwith underbalanced drilling operations. The modelrnenhancements are basically obtained by implementingrnmechanistic closure relationships and more accurate numericalrnschemes. This process of improvement is validated throughrncomparison to full-scale experimental data in transientrnscenarios, showing that the gains in terms of increasing thernmodel accuracy are significant.
