The samples with various components of Al_2O_3 were hot pressed with equal volume ratiornCaO/ZrO_2 at 1300℃ for 30 min (30MPa) and reacted with Cp-Ti at 1600℃/30 min. Thernspecimens of Al_2O_3/CaO/ZrO_2 composite were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and therninterfacial microstructures were observed by scanning emission microscopy (SEM/EDS). ThernXRD patterns indicated that there were CaZrO_3, c-ZrO_2 and CaAl_2O_4 phases in the specimens. Inrnaddition, the proportion of CaZrO_3 phase was decreased with Al_2O_3 in the composite, but that ofrnc-ZrO_2 was in the opposite manner. According to SEM observations, there were not numerousrnreaction layers in the sample which has high component of CaZrO_3 but others were. The resultrnwhich from XRD and SEM shows Al_2O_3 play an important role in the proceeding of compositernand the reaction between composite and titanium. In conclusion, when the amount of Al_2O_3 inrnthe composites is below 10 vol.%, CaZrO_3 will be the major phase and it could suppress therndiffusion of oxygen atoms to titanium.
