Synthesis and characterization of the semiconducting nanomaterials of Gr V-VI for thermoelectric applications

The use of semicondutors for thermoelectric cooling and electricity generation are attracting lot of research interest in the scientific community. From this perceptive, Gr V-VI semiconductors in their nanolevel are found to have interesting materials for thermoelectric applications. Especially, the one dimensional nanostructures like nanorods or tubes possess lower thermal conductivity and higher Seeback coefficient which makes them suitable for such applications. The present work reports some simple synthetic methods to fabricate the nanorods and tubes of specific Gr. V-VI semiconductors. The phase purity and stoichiometry of the materials has been determined by XRD and XPS respectively. The morphology has been studied by SEM and TEM micrographs. The optical study revealed increased band gap of the materials.
