It is important to obtain the relationship between primary dendrite arm spacing λ_1 and solidification parameters (C_o, V, G), since dendritic microstructures are directly related to various materials responses and properties, such as toughness, corrosion and hot cracking. In this study, Pb-Cd alloys were directionally solidified at different C_0 and V in a constant G. λ_1 was measured from longitudinal and transverse section of each specimen. The dependence of λ_1 to the solidification parameters (C_0, V) were determined by linear regression analysis and the results are compared with the related theoretical models and the published data.
