摘要

In this paper we shall first describe low energy nuclear transmutation theory [LENT] and then apply it to describe how a "smart" material such as a piezoelectric rock when crushed can induce nuclear reactions with production of neutrons which have been observed. An experimental program being set up at Perugia for realizing LENT is also briefly noted.
