While advanced cardiac solid and fluid models have been developed by McCulloch, Peskin and Yoganathan, the in-house development of these codes poses a great limitation to the widespread use of cardiac fluid and solid computational modeling in the average research laboratory. Therefore we aim to demonstrate the feasibility of a commercial finite element code in a linear elastic axisymmetric fluid-interaction model of the left ventricle. Comparing our data to previously published findings, we will demonstrate that, even though currently several limitations exist, the commercial package Adina (Adina R&D, Inc., Watertown, MA) is feasible in cardiac fluid-structure interaction modeling.
