Applications of high-resolution active-matrix liquid crystal spatial light modulators to parallel optical processing

Abstract: Real-time (video frame rate) optical correlation andwavelet transformation using high- resolution LCTV-SLMsand Fresnel zone plates have been studied. In thesystems, the LCTV-SLMs are used as real-time opticalfiltering devices in Fourier planes and the Fresnelzone plates are used as Fourier transformation devices.In the experiment, good optical performance has beenachieved. From the results, it is confirmed that theFresnel zone plates are suitable devices for paralleloptics and using them, they can be extended paralleloptical systems easily.!11
