Over the past several years, many aluminum processors inrnNorth America have used unique, inherently non-wetting,rnnon-reactive, micro-porous refractory products fromrnWestmoreland Advanced Materials, Inc. to line theirrnmelting and holding furnaces, as well as their molten metalrntransport systems. These manufacturers have experiencedrnsignificant energy and maintenance cost savings throughrnthe use of this unique refractory technology. A review ofrnthe technology that was used to develop these uniquernrefractory products, along with specific examples of thernenergy and maintenance cost savings from severalrncustomers are presented.
