Cyclic Steam Stimulation (CSS) process is a provenrncommercial oil recovery method in heavy oil reservoirs. Inrnmany of the heavier reservoirs, steam is injected under highrnpressure to create fractures at the wellbore. The changes inrnmass and heat transfer properties created by high pressurernsteam injection in the deformed shear failure zone around thernwellbore have been shown to influence recove~ mechanism.rnThis work presents an analytical model, which considers thernshear failure zone permeability in reservoir simulation byrnmeans of pseudo-relative permeability tictions.rnThe pseudo-relative permeability fictions have beenrnsuccessfully applied ‘to an analytical predictive model whichrnconsiders flow into a circular wellbore at the center of anrnelliptical drainage system. The simulated results obtained fromrnthe new model shows excellent agreement with previouslyrnreported results in Cold Lake, Alberta oil sand.
