The significant difference in latency between the two areas amounted to a 3 dB difference insensitivity. This small difference was best explained by individual differences in the small sample ofindividuals tested. The individual with profound hearing loss was most likely the victim of previousillness or congenital or genetic defect because the noise levels on the BMGAFR were not great enoughto produce deafness or profound auditory deficit in laboratory animals and because other individualshad no significant loss.
