Conventional methods of controlling the structural vibration of enclosures are by heavypanels with porous absorber. For close-fitting enclosure, the use of stiff and light panelswith reactive absorber are more efficient.Panels of different curvature have been tested and used as close-fitting enclosure panel.The experimental results show the importance of panel stifiess for structural acousticcontrol, cumed panels can give better performance than flat panels at low frequencybecause of higher bending stiffness. The general trend of the absorption performance ofthe perforated panels applied in close-fitting enclosure corresponds to the absorptionperformance measured in impedance tube. The experimental results have demonstrated thehigh acoustical darnping abilities of the perforated panels when applied to close-fittingenclosure.
