Nowadays sustainable buildings envelope should guarantee both protection from environmental noise and insure good thermal insulation. Windows are the main element influencing sound and thermal insulation of building envelope. The issue is to design windows which fulfill those both requirements (reduce external noise level and heat loss). The aim of the experimental study was to evaluate acoustical and thermal performance of windows usually used in residential buildings in Baltic Sea region. Scandinavian and European type wooden windows glazed with triple glass (4 mm thickness) units were chosen. The analysis of results showed that acoustical performance of windows characterized by R_w lays in the range of 32 - 36 dB and R_w+C_(tr) in the range of 28 - 31 dB. Thermal insulation of windows characterized by U-value which varies from 1.48 W/m~2·K down to 0.83 W/m~2·K.
