Road traffic noise levels in Greater Cairo, Egypt

摘要

This study is concerned with road traffic noise in Greater Cairo, Egypt. Measurements takenin September and October 2001 for traffic noise levels in Greater Cairo, indicates that noiselevels in the city are higher than those set by Egyptian noise standards & policy to protectpublic health and welfare in residential areas (L_(Aeq) = 90 dB and higher were recorded), whilemaximum permissible level is 65 dB. So that makes Cairo in front of Capitals from aspect ofnoise level and continuous periods. This work was conducted in different sections of GreaterCairo City to determine the overall levels of road traffic noise and the range of noise levelfluctuations at different hours 7:00 – 21:00. This to evaluate road traffic noise situation andput planning for future to make Greater Cairo a quiet city.
