In the last decade, turbulent times and uncertainties in the business environment have made ground forrna new business era, and “change” has become a major characteristic of the new era. This has resulted in tirelessrnevolution of business systems and the creation of new manufacturing and management philosophies. AgilernManufacturing is a step forward in generation of new means for better performance and success of business, andrnin practice is a strategic approach to manufacturing by considering the new conditions of the businessrnenvironment. This paper discusses current progress on the development of a methodology for industry tornimplement agility and proposes a framework to facilitate business strategy formulation in manufacturingrnorganisations. Following an introduction of agile manufacturing, a discussion of the methodology and associatedrntools, including metrics for the assessment of agility drivers, capability and performance, are given. Aspects of therntools are tested in an aerospace company.
