摘要

This study introduces an optimum design of the high speed spinning disk spindle system of a HDD forrnminimum RRO, NRRO, and lightweight construction using a genetic algorithm. The spinning disk, hub, andrnbearing components of a HDD system are modelled as appropriate finite elements respectively and their equationsrnof motion are derived to construct the system equations of the whole spinning disk spindle. The RRO and NRROrnresponses of the spinning disk, due to exciting forces arisen from ball bearing faults and rotating unbalance, arernanalyzed. Bearing stiffness, bearing span, hub thickness, and disk thickness are optimized for minimum RRO,rnNRRO, and lightweight. Optimization results show that the RRO, NRRO, and weight are greatly reduced,rncompared with the initial design of the HDD system. Therefore, this present study can be used for an optimumrndesign of the HDD disk-spindle system.
