Effects of sintering temperature in hot pressing, types, states and amounts of rare earth as well as TiH2rnon the transverse rupture strength(TRS) of Fe-based composites are studied by means of orthogonal test andrnvariance analysis in this paper. It is found that sintering temperature has a great influence on the TRS of Fe-basedrncomposites while the types of rare earth and its states have little influence on it. TiH2 has a negative effect on thernTRS of Fe-based composites. Under all the experimental sintering temperatures, Fe-based diamond compositesrnwith small amount of rare earth additives have higher transverse rupture strength. The optimal amount of rarernearth was found to be about 1% in weight.
