The Marcianiak-Kuczynski method for the prediction of strain localisation has been extended for the analysis of three-dimensional deformation sequences extracted out of finite element simulations of forming processes. A post-processing tool for the finite element simulations has been developed to that purpose. It aims at predicting the critical punch displacement corresponding to the onset of necking. It includes and advances hardening model which takes the texture-based and the dislocation substructure-based anisotropy into account. The two-step deep drawing of a square box was simulated in order to study the usefulness and the feasibility of such dvanced simulations. The predictions have been compared with experimental results and the validity of the model has been assessed.
