The organic-inorganic hybrid membranes of poly(N-vinylpyrrolidone) (PVP) and 3-aminopropyltriethoxysilane (APTEOS) were prepared by sol-gel process and their permeation properties of N_2 and O_2 were studied. The gas permeability coefficients of N_2 and O_2 are increased with increasing temperature in a range of 30-50℃. The positive dependence on temperature and higher ideal separation factor than theoretical Knudsen value indicates that PVP/APTEOS hybrid membranes follow solution-diffusion mechanism, which is applied to nonporous membrane. The permeability coefficients of N_2 and O_2 are decreased with increasing PVP content, at a given temperature. It can be explained that the stronger interaction between PVP and APTEOS reduces available free volume, although the increasing of PVP content may lead to an enhancement of chain flexibility.
