THE TRIP DISTRIBUTION AND TRAVEL TIME ESTIMATION ON FREEWAY WITH ELECTRONIC TOLL COLLECTION SYSTEM

Far Eastern Electronic Toll Collection Co. (FETC) was commissioned by Taiwan AreaNational Freeway Bureau (TANFB) to set up the Electronic Toll Collection (ETC) service.ETC provides the most detailed, comprehensive and immediate information to improve safetyand efficiency by the transaction data. FETC completed the “Traffic Data Collection SupportSystem (TDCS)” to obtain real time information of the traffic conditions around the freeway.Through the collected statistics, we can assess the condition of the traffic flow and speed ofvehicles. Recently, within many further applications and research from TDCS, tripdistribution and travel time estimation are two of the most significant applications. We willintroduce the TDCS framework and the applications in this paper.
