A New Concept of Driver Assistance with Cooperationbetween Two Vehicles

This paper proposes a new concept of a driver assistance system, which performs thernassistance by the cooperative driving between two vehicles, and introduces a vehicle controlrnalgorithm for the assistance, where one vehicle driven by an elderly driver, for example, is arnguest vehicle and the other driven by a supporting driver is a host vehicle, and the host vehiclernescorts the guest vehicle by controlling the relative position of the host to the guest. Obstaclesrnare expressed by the potential function, and the algorithm with the PID type lateral andrnlongitudinal control is verified by the simulation studies.
