A rather new method for storage of high radioactive nuclear waste, called the dry rock deposit method (DRD) is here presented and compared with the Swedish KBS-3 method (the political method). Today we know for sure that the KBS-3 method wont work because future ice ages of Sweden will cause earthquakes with high magnitudes up to 8 on the Richter scale and these earthquakes may cause cracks down to the 500 m level of the KBS-3 deposit. Three ice ages are expected during the next 100 000 years of storage which is needed for the KBS-3 storage. The DRD-concept was originally developed for storage of dangerous solid materials and later on in the middle of 1990's it was modified to be used also for high radioactive nuclear waste from the nuclear power plants. A further modification was made in 1998 of the DRD-method and a research application was sent to SKI in 1999 to apply for grants to study the method more in detail. A preliminary rough comparison shows that the DRD-method might be advantageous to the KBS-3 method both technically, economically and environmentally. The DRD-method can however only be guaranteed to the next ice about 5000 years ahead. With high probability, methods will be developed during this time to use the rest energy in the high radioactive waste and therefore there is no need to store it so long time as proposed by SKB. The KBS-3 concept of storing it for more than 100 000 year is both impossible and obsolete.
