Research on Recession Mechanism of Ejinaqi Oasis by Using Remote Sensing Data

In recent years, the recession of the oasis area appeared to be extensive in Northwest China. It brings a series of environmental problems and part of the area even becomes the cradleland of sandstorm. Ejinaqi oasis was chosen to be the study area in this paper. On the basis of NOAA/AVHRR satellite data, soil line method was used to calibrate the multi-temporal remote sensing data and removed influence of atmosphere and soil background. The equal area method was put forward in this paper to contrast the remote sensing data in different years and estimate the variation of Ejinaqi oasis area. Water resources is the essential factor to influence the oasis variability. In the northwest arid area of China, all the oases develop with surface rivers and have a close relationship with runoff of the river. In this study, the quantitative relationship between runoff of the river and variability of the oasis area was investigated.
