The possibility of usage of diatom soil as artificial lightweight materialobtained by mixing with finely pulverized waste melting slag andslaked lime is investigated. The effects of diatom soil without mixingof slag and mixing ratio of diatom soil, pulverized waste melting slagand slaked lime on the unconfined compressive strengths are examined.The unconfined compressive strengths of the diatom soil-slag mixedmaterial of 25% diatom soil content is the largest in comparison withthat of another mixed materials of 50, 75% diatom soil content with theincrease of slaked lime admixture. Environmental impact assessment isalso performed on the mixed materials of diatom soil, slag and slakedlime.
