Intertidal mudflat profiles were measured monthly along two crossshorelines for four years. Assuming the measured profile evolution asthe superposition of annual accretion rate, seasonal variation, andepisodic variation, the episodic variation due to storm actions wasestimated in the range 12.1 to 22.0 cm and two to four times larger thanthe seasonal variation. The computed tidal currents and wave orbitalvelocities were compared with field data. The combined effects oftides and wind waves will need to be taken into account for thesediment transport on the intertidal mudflat.
