Effect of Clays on Application Performances of Polycarboxylic Ether Based Superplasticizer

Effect of 2 types of clay on fluidity of mortar with poly carboxylic ether (PCE) superplasticizer was researched in this paper. The effect of different clay on mortar workability was quite distinct. The adsorptive behaviors of PEC on cement and clay particles as well as the adsorption amount change with elapse of time were measured by TOC method. The results showed that the adsorption amount of PCE on clay particle was much larger than that on cement particles. An additional agent was applied together with PCE to counteract the negative influence of clay.
