The carcasses of the tires are currently causing a major environmental problem since they take a long time to decompose, and beyond that, they release toxic substances which damage the environment. Since tires consumption is increasing day by day, it's necessary to give a value for this waste. Through some experiments, it could be noted that the tire has good reactivity. This feature has been arousing the interest of steel plants in order to use it as a source of fuel in blast furnaces, making important the analysis of the combustion rate obtained both when the sprayed-pure tire is injected and when mixed with other coals types.This paper shows data from a project to assess combustion results obtained when mixing charcoal and carcass of tires, both injected in different proportions, to identify which combination of these materials provides a better combustion rate; and thus is considered the economic feasibility of the application of the methodology in blast furnaces.
