In the frame of European Community R&D project CO_2RED the potential of flameless regenerative burner TENOVA TRGX for strongly reducing CO_2 emissions of reheating furnaces has been explored:1. by pilot scale test of pair of burner obtaining NOx emissions even below the limit of 40 ppm normalised at 3% O_2 with furnace temperature 1250℃, air preheat 1100℃ and air excess 5%2. by CFD modeling to support design of new combustion system3. by long time test at industrial site demonstrating the reliability of the combustion system and the potential for energy saving respect to central recuperator traditional furnace with consequent reduction of CO_2 emissions.
