Abstract: In this paper, we propose a syntactic patternrecognition method for non- schematic drawings, basedon a new attributed graph grammar with flexibleembedding. In our graph grammar, the embedding rulepermits the nodes of a guest graph to be arbitrarilyconnected with the nodes of a host graph. The ambiguitycaused by this flexible embedding is controlled withthe evaluation of synthesized attributes and the checkof context sensitivity. To integrate parsing with thesynthesized attribute evaluation and the contextsensitivity check, we also develop a bottom up parsingalgorithm. !8
