Temperatures are important in the wiredrawing process, and measurements are very tricky. Simulationsrnshow very high temperatures in the contact between wire and die. For this study, thermocouples werernwelded to the nibs, a very sensitive arrangement in a wiredrawing plant. This paper reports and analyzesrnmeasurements of nib temperatures and compares them with FEM simulations. The wire cooling on blocksrnwas measured by pyrometers. These measurements are sensitive to the wire brightness especially forrnstainless wire.
