Analysis on Situation and Policy of Flood Prevention in Shandong after Operation of Xiaolangdi Reservoir

Since the utilization of Xiaolangdi Reservoir in 1999, three times of water and sediments regulation experiments have been conducted with the result of defeating the severe autumn flood in 2003 and obvious improvement in discharging ability in the lower reaches of the Yellow River. In spite of the operation of Xiaolangdi, the situation of flood prevention in Shandong is still severe. Some suggestions aiming at non — engineering measures will be put forward through analyses.
