Grid Computing is a concept that focuses on transparent resource sharing in a dynamic distributed environment, which allows several distributed resources to be combined and used to achieve a single task. This is useful because it has the potential to provide users with resources that would otherwise be unavailable to them. This project aims to show that object oriented techniques and more specifically Java/ Jini can be used to develop a grid computing environment, JGrid, which simplifies the task of developing grid applications by providing a high level interface to GRID resources. This document presents an analysis of JGrid based upon an environmental modelling algorithm used to test the system, which demonstrates some significant advantages over more low-level grid environments such as Globus.
