OFDM modulation systems, using guard interval and channel estimation functions, allow compensation of the effects of a distorting channel, provided that the channel echo delays do not fall outside the guard interval. However, as soon as some echo becomes longer than the guard interval duration the performances of the OFDM modem degrade abruptly.
