摘要

Metal oxide surge arresters (MOSA) are widely used as protective devices against switching and lightning over-voltages in electrical power systems. Appropriate modeling of their dynamic characteristics is very important for insulation coordination, arrester location and energy absorption studies. Working group 3.4.11 of IEEE has recommended a model that can be used in the range of current surge wave front time 0.5 to 45 μsec. This model has developed mainly for Substation class Surge arresters. In this paper the model applied for a distribution class arrester and validity of accuracy has compared with laboratory test results.
