Speciality Tubes Manufacturing at NFC

Nuclear Fuel Complex at Hyderabad has excellent seamless tube making facilities capable of producing tubes in a wide range of sizes and in a variety of ferrous and non-ferrous materials. In addition to tubes of circular cross section, different shapes of solid and hollow cross sections are also manufactured to meet customer requirements. Materials that are processed include stainless and high alloy steels, high nickel alloys and zirconium and titanium alloys. The size range covered is 4.7mm to 255mm outside diameter and 0.3 to 55mm wall thickness. There is practically no limitation with respect to diameter to wall thickness ratios in the given size range. Thus extremely thin wall tubes of 133.5mm OD x 1.40mm wall as well as extremely thick wall hollows of 48mm OD x 20mm wall are also made using these facilities. A wide variety of products required for many critical applications in nuclear reactors, space applications, defence requirements, aeronautical and aerospace applications are being manufactured utilizing facilities for hot extrusion, cold pilgering, cold drawing, bright annealing etc with state of the art NDT. This paper gives details of the manufacturing facilities, some of the typical products made for strategic applications and the stringent quality control measures taken to ensure the product quality.
