DIOXIN REMOVAL IN HAZARDOUS WASTE INCINERATION USING ADIOX~?

Adiox~? is a dioxin removal technology which has established itself as a cost-effective way to reduce dioxin emissions to the atmosphere. Adiox is a construction material in which carbon particles are dispersed in a polymer such as polypropylene. Tower packings, droplet separators and dry or semi-wet fixed bed fillings can be produced from this material. Adiox can be used to reduce or eliminate the "memory effect" in wet scrubber systems, in combination with other dioxin removal technologies or as the primary dioxin removal system for meeting the EU waste incineration directive requirement of < 0.1 ng TEQ/m~3 (n., d.g., 11% O_2). If Adiox is employed in a dry absorber instead of a wet scrubber, the specific removal efficiency is higher, which leads to smaller equipment sizes. In the semi-wet operating mode, dioxins are removed from water saturated gas without using water circulation. More than 70 MSW and hazardous waste incineration lines have been equipped with Adiox. After use, Adiox can be incinerated, thereby destroying the dioxins.
