COLOMBIAN COAL BENEFICIATION USING A PILOT-SCALE AUTOMEDIUM CYCLONE

A pilot-scale plant to beneficiate coal of 6 tons/h which uses an automedium cyclone separator of 10" diameter was designed, commissioned and run. The plant is located at La Yolanda colliery mine (La Buitrera, Cali - Colombia). Results shows that in general the ash content of beneficiated coal fractions (overflow) is lower than those of feed coal. Increasing of ash content occurred in the underflow flow. This means that the plant works according to the expectative to reduce ash content of the feed coals.
