摘要

With the rapid urbanization of Jiangsu province in eastern China, engineering activities have caused varied geological hazards. Among of them land subsidence in Suzhou-Wuxi-Changzhou region is very serious with the area of 5500 km~2 and the maximum depth of 1.8 m. The excessive extraction of karst groundwater in Xuzhou city has caused more than 10 karst collapses. Another typical geological hazard is landslide in Zhenjiang city that occurred more and more frequently in recent years. Based on the data of geological survey the characteristics and forming mechanism of typical urban geological hazards mentioned above were discussed.
